Best Destinations in May

May is when Yunnan turns lush green. Tiger Leaping Gorge is in prime trekking condition — warm but not yet rainy, with wildflowers beginning to appear on the high trail. Lijiang is comfortable and the old town's willows are a vivid green. Dali remains pleasant though the first rains begin. Shangri-La is finally warming up enough for comfortable exploration. Xishuangbanna's rainy season begins — hot and humid, but the Tropical Botanical Garden is at its most vibrant.
